Five websites finished for York Museums Trust

York Museums Trust was officially launched at a glittering reception held at the award winning York Castle Museum on Thursday 3 October 2002. They are the first sites in th UK to make use of the new .museum domain.

York Art Gallery, York Castle Museum and Yorkshire Museum & Garden's brand new websites will all use .museum instead of the regular .org.uk or .co.uk URLs.

MuseDoma, the organisation responsible for .museum explains, ‘The .museum domain differs from the more familiar three-letter domains in the means by which its policy is maintained. With the eligibility of each applicant verified by MuseDoma.

YMT's Media Spokesperson, Ben Blackwell, said “The new site is fresh and vibrant, reflecting the character of York Museums Trust. The designers at Stardotstar and Love Creative have created a groundbreaking site that genuinely gives York Art Gallery, York Castle Museum and the Yorkshire Museum & Gardens the edge in terms of breaking news and appealing, lively content.” The three websites are officially launched on 7 October.
