Gridclub Wins a BAFTA!!!

In October the collaboration of talents brought together by producer Colin Izod of Big Heart TV celebrated after their Music Studio site helped Channel 4's GridClub win the BAFTA for Online Learning, beating competition from the BBC and The Guardian.

The musical microsite aims to teach 7-11 year olds how music works through non-conventional teaching methods. By playing the puzzles, games and toys, the children learn to develop a musical ear.

"The beauty of this project is the harmony between design, animation, music, programming and technology," explained Stardotstar partner Gareth Langley.

"Each element is as important as the other, so we've used a blend of the best existing technologies to integrate each of them without compromising on each other, or on interactivity and gameplay."

"Programming and interface design is like editing and lighting," continued Gareth, "you only notice it if it is bad! By working hand in hand with people like Paul Farrington at Studio Tonne and animator Joe Berger we have created a site that not only looks great, but is effortless to use."

"[GridClub] Proves that learning can be great fun!" - BAFTA

"I didn't believe you guys were going to make it work!!" - Colin Izod, Big Heart, Producer of Music Studio

Music Studio was produced by Colin Izod of Big Heart Online on behalf of Channel 4 and the DfES, and created by Stardotstar in association with Studio Tonne, Joe Berger, Helen Macgregor and Stephen Chadwick.
